VIRTUAL STEM Programs 2020 - 2021

Don't drop the ball on learning this academic year!

Science and Technology Class

We research the latest Technology trends and carefully craft the camp programs so your children are always exposed to the most current technologies and its application

What to expect?

Whether you are joining block-based / textual programming or Maker Robotics camp, each camp will cover the following in-depth:

  • Coding fundamentals

  • Engineering principles

  • Understanding of solving a real-life problem with technology

  • Design session in breakout teams

  • Building multiple unique projects

  • Alpha and Beta Testing

Making it a SUCCESSFUL VIRTUAL Experience!

Code-it Hacks has been running non-stop virtual camps since the school closure was announced in March. During this time we learnt many lessons. To ensure the most impactful learning experience we have structured our camps per our learnings. Here are some of our findings:

  • 8 students in a virtual class is the magic number to ensure everyone gets enough time during the camp

  • A ratio of 1:4 teacher to student is the most impactful

  • Kids ages 6 and under do feel a screen time learning fatigue

  • An hour is too little time to run the camp and more that two hours is too much screen fatigue

  • Group team-based activities in breakout sessions provide students means to connect and give them purpose in a contactless learning environment

  • Friday is our testing and presentation day. Students work towards this goal all week. They are taught to provide constructive feedback to team mates. Conduct alpha and and Beta testings and taught how to receive feedback to improve their code

Spotlight on Social Emotional Learning

A Girl Looking at a Physics Model

According to recent collaborative study by Microsoft and McKinsey, the kindergartners of today will require more focus on Social emotional learning then enhancing just the cognitive skills.

"Social-emotional skills provide students with the perspective and flexibility necessary to function at a high level even when faced with uncertainty, change, pressure, stress, and other work and life challenges."

Per this study, "this is critical, because change and uncertainty are going to be increasingly pervasive for the class of 2030. Trends indicate the class of 2030 will change jobs more frequently than any previous generation, as across nearly all industries, the impact of technological and other changes is shortening the shelf life of employees’ existing skill sets."

How is Code-it Hacks integrating the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) support?

We are proud to state that SEL has always been an integral part of our program. Now more so, we feel the need to offer a balance between creating technology savvy learners and learners that can engage socially and navigate the world confidently without breaking under the pressures of the world. Every Code-it Hacks program, virtual or in person, integrates:

  • collaboration (during design and build)

  • Inquiry based learning (Problem and project-based)

  • Research and Presentation

  • Personalized learning plan and feedback

Frequently asked questions

What is the duration of Coding Programs?

All coding programs run for 10 - 12 weeks in length. Students meet once a week for a duration of 90 minutes virtually

Is there homework?

Students may have to do additional work outside of class to practice what they have learned. Like math, coding skills improve with practice. Students can expect about 15 to 20 minutes of homework for the week.

How do I know I know which level to sign up for?

If you are an absolute beginner in any of our programs please sign-up for level 1. If you have done a camp with us, for that program you can sign up for Level 2 or call us to discuss. All new students interested in joining Code-it Hacks 2020-2021 programs can email us at to setup a short evaluation to determine your level.

How much does each program cost?

All semestered coding, digital art and animation, and engineering programs are priced at $350 inclusive of taxes. All semestered Maker Robotics programs are priced at $450 inclusive of taxes.

How much is an annual membership and what is included?

There are two types of Annual membership programs: Coding and Digital Arts Club Maker Robotics & Engineering Coding Club and Digital Arts - Annual Membership With this membership, students are entitled to take any two programs every semester. That is a total of 6 programs in the year. Roblox SCRATCH Python 3D digital arts and Animation 3D gaming with Unity C# Java Minecraft The cost for annual membership is $1800 for the year. With the membership you save $500. Camps and PA days are not included in the annual membership program. Program start date is September 21st 2020. If a child misses a class, we will send you a recording of the virtual class for the student to follow at their own pace.

What if my child is not engaged after first class?

Once the program has started and if your child is not engaging in the program, we will first try to determine the reason. If the content is too easy we will move the student to a higher level. If the student is finding the program too dificult to follow, we will arrange for a meeting with the parents to determine the best course of action. This could include some one-on-one time with the coaches. If neither solution is right and the student wishes to withdraw, we will only be able to refund 25% of the cost of the program. (This does not apply to the anuual membership).

What is the difference between virtual Coding and Virtual Maker Robotics program?

Code-it Hacks offers play-based coding and Maker Robotics programs. In the virtual coding programs, campers will learn the fundamentals of programming while creating interactive games. Campers will take a deep dive into developing key programming skills. The Virtual Maker Robotics programs are designed to engage young learners via hands-on Maker projects while developing basics of coding. Students will learn the fundamentals of electronics, robotics and basics of programming as they work through their inventions.
