ABOUT US

We are Code-it Hacks! Toronto's only "play-based" STEM institute for kids ages 4 - 18. Code-it Hacks brings creative, innovative and fun Coding and Robotics programs and camp experiences to kids across GTA in the STEM field.

We are seeking  enthusiastic and passionate team of individuals who love working with a variety of different technologies, has patience to work with kids and has excellent project and people management skills. 

Our campers learn the STEM skills and get the opportunity to visit local tech companies to present their projects. As part of our camp team, all camp staff will have the opportunity to connect and network with our industry partners via expo days and company field trips.

Looking for an exciting, educational and fun summer job? We are seeking energetic students to join our summer team

Camp STEM Director

Code-it Hacks is seeking a Summer Camp Director to supervise and lead campers and staff.

 

Job Duties

 

  • Ensuring smooth operation of all camps. You will overlook all day to day operations of the camp

  • Mentor and guide camp leaders and coaches in ensuring they get the support to be successful in their daily camp duties

  • Maintain and ensure all camp health and safety measures and manuals are in place

  • Coordinate and execute fire-drill at the beginning of each camp week

  • Prepare Checklists for camp setup and breakdown

  • Prepare and communicate staff schedules, camp rosters, and parent communications

  • Audit and verify camp supply inventory report from the camp supervisors

  • Monitor staff performance and provide end of summer performance evaluation reports to all staff

  • Conduct camp day-start round-up and day-end debrief sessions with all the camp staff

  • Send out weekly task-lists to all staff

  • Coordinate and ensure smooth operation of all camp field trips and excursions and expo day

  • Ensure all camps are running per curriculum and camp manuals

  • Provide professional, courteous and prompt customer service to all in-person and online parent enquiries 

  • Stay proactive and resolve any conflicts pertaining to staff, camp and administrative issues

 

 

Camp Director Qualification:

 

  • Minimum 20 years of age

  • Post-secondary education (or currently enrolled) preferred 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a child-oriented programs

  • Prior camp leadership experience an asset

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C” for the duration of contract 

  • Must be able to provide Vulnerable Sector check prior to start of the camp season

  • Must have excellent communication, time-management and leadership skills

  • Must be able to provide references

Work Perks and training

  • All hired candidates will be given a one-day HIGH-FIVE training

  • Candidates will be given five-day Technical training (to-be conducted in June on Weekends)

  • Most Camps will visit Technology companies. This will be an opportunity for you to network and showcase your talent via campers’ projects

Camp STEM Specialist/Leader 

Reporting to the Camp Director, Instructors are responsible for planning, organizing and implementing a high quality technology program that is stimulating and fun for all participants. 

Job Duties

  • Plan, organize and deliver technology lessons to all levels of participants

  • Follow the curriculum but have the ability to improvise and add fun element to the program

  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation 

  • Work with the camp coaches to have all projects completed for the expo and tech company visit

  • Provide excellent customer service including greeting and engaging participants, greeting parents and answering any question that they may have

  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner

  • Complete camper evaluation report cards by second last day of each camp week

Required Skills:

  • The incumbent must be a graduate or under graduate student currently pursuing degrees in computer Science, Information management, Engineering or similar discipline

  • Must have experience with coding and working with technology.

  • Must have exposure to all or some the programming languages: C, C++ Python, Machine Learning, C#(Unity), etc.

  • Exposure working with circuit boards such as Arduino, Micro:bits etc.

  • Teaching experience is nice to have

  • All hired staff must provide Vulnerability sector checks

  • All hired staff must have current First Aid and CPR training certificate

Reporting to the Camp Specialist, Coaches are responsible for assisting and implementing a high-quality technology program that is stimulating and fun for all participants. 

Job Duties

  • Set-up and breakdown camp per checklist

  • Prepare daily before-camp and after-camp inventory report to camp supervisor

  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation 

  • Work with the camp leaders to have all projects completed for the expo and tech company visit

  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner

  • Responsible for preparing daily incident report to submit to camp supervisor

  • Assist Camp Leader with the preparation of camper report cards

Required Skills

  • The incumbent must be a high-school student, graduate or under graduate student currently seeking to or pursuing degrees in computer Science, Information management, Engineering or similar discipline

  • Prior camp counselling experience is a plus

  • Must have desire to learn and work with technology

  • Some experience with coding and other technology is an asset

Circuitry and Electronics - Instructor

Are you a circuits fan? Do you like to understand what is happening behind the scenes in a toy that moves, lights up,  and/or senses? And most importantly do you like to explain to others what and how it works?

Code-it Hacks is a play-based STEM school for Grade school students. We believe in teaching the concepts in depth via play before any execution takes place.

 

We are seeking highly enthusiastic tinkerers and engineering students to join our team to deliver our unique curriculum to Grades 1 - 12.

 

Our programs run during lunch hours and after-school during the week  and all day on Saturdays.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Instructors teach students programming, circuits and robotics following our play-based curriculum

  • Students go through a thorough curriculum to understand basics of electronics, engineering circuitry

  • Instructors form student teams based on knowledge and personality, to foster collaborative working environment

  • Instructors must document class progress to share with parents after each class

  • Instructors must think beyond the proposed curriculum and projects to add more unique projects to offer to students

 

Qualifications

  • Must be in the field of engineering or computer science or be able to demonstrate required skills

  • Fully proficient working with Arduino’s, micro:bits and other micro-controllers

  • Must be able to demonstrate working with generic circuitry with use of breadboards, resistors, motors, sensors, etc,

  • Must know the workings of Raspberry Pi

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with programming using Arduino IDE, Java, and Python

  • Must be passionate about working young students and be able to demonstrate efficient classroom management skills, managing rubrics and student progress

Programming Instructor 

Are you a tinkerer who loves to create with the power of coding?

We are seeking an entusiastic coach to teach SCRATCH and Python (Turtle) to curious children following our play-based curriculum.

Code-it Hacks is a play-based STEM school for Grade school students. We believe in teaching the concepts in depth via play before any execution takes place.

Our programs runs during lunch hour from 11:30 to 12:30 or after-school during the week starting at 3:30 pm. If applying to this job you must be available for at least one of these times.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Instructors/coaches teach students coding concepts via our play-based curriculum

  • Instructors/coach form student teams based on knowledge and personality, to foster collaborative working environment

Strategic sales and marketing consultant

Code it Hacks is looking for a Strategic sales and marketing consultant who can work on establishing deep relationships in GTA schools and drive acceptance for our education curriculum to complement students’ STEM education:

  • Past experience dealing with education sector and schools

  • Contacts within the GTA school system, individual schools, parents’ associations to influence strategic thinking

  • Experience working with educators and school principals on curriculum, after school programs and student education in general

  • Ability to drive strategies complementary / supplement to school curriculum

  • Ability to influence ‘whitespace’ thinking and decision making

  • Experience with opening up new opportunities in schools and driving deeper penetration in competitive scenarios

  • Experience working on graded commission model based on business generated

  • Working knowledge of STEM discipline and ability to have an intelligent conversation in this space
